One of the top journalists in India known for his aggressive style, he is someone who is always in the talks. Born in 1973 in an Assamese Brahmin family, Goswami was born to Manoranjan Goswami, a military officer and Suprabha Goswami, an author. Being an army kid, he spent his childhood across various cities in India. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Delhi University and Masters in Social Anthropology from Oxford University.
He started his career in early 1990s with The Telegraph at Kolkata, wherein he lasted less than a year. His affair with the newsroom began in 1995 when he got his job as a news anchor at NDTV in Delhi. He bagged an award in 2004 for the Best News Anchor of Asia for his show called Newsnight. Alongside, he also penned his first book ” Terrorism: The Legal Challenge”, which mentioned the challenges India faces in forming laws against terrorism. He later went on to become the editor-in-chief of Times Now and continued his association almost a decade. His show “Frankly Speaking with Arnab” was a great hit. In 2016, he split with Times Now due to editorial differences with them to form his own news channel called Republic TV. Within a week of its launch, it became the most viewed news channel.

He is married to Samyabrata Ray Goswami, who is also a journalist and co-owner of Republic TV. His news channel has partnered with Charities Aid Foundation to boost the spirit of giving among the people in the society to transform lives of others in the community by giving time, money and other resources. It is estimated that his net worth is around INR 253 Crores as of 2021.
Although his statements and style of journalism are considered to be quite controversial, he definitely has been a great influence on Indian news channels and continues to do so.
